This is a great, action-packed book! (There are minor gramatical and punctuation errors, but I’m reading an ARC, so any errors will most likely be fixed when the actual book is published.) Although things often do not go well for Rayah, she exhibits an inner strength that infuriates some and sways others to her side. Destiny Hawkins has mastered the art of creating lifelike, multi-dimensional characters. I like that some of the characters I considered to be antagonists in earlier books have learned, grown, and changed. Even Artemis, who I would consider to be pure evil, is multifaceted—Still sadistic and evil, though. The book wraps up nicely, but it isn’t the typical happily ever after ending. And I still have so many questions! Will Rayah ever completely get over her fear of fire? Will she pass her level 6 test? How did she get to the beginning scene? I can’t wait to read the next book!
